IT’S THE TIME of year when, camera in hand, I head off for an autumnal ramble in Duncton Wood – real name Wytham Wood which, with nearby Wittenham Clumps, informed the creation of DUNCTON WOOD.
Unfortunately sub-zero temperatures descended overnight and winter has displaced autumn. So the pictures that will appear on this site this coming weekend will be wintery ones. Fortunately however, a wonderful country- and home-orientated local blogger, Helen Duncan, put up a stunning autumn blog for Wytham in November last year, illustrated with her own beautiful visuals. I’ve rescued it from the archives and am sharing it here for you to enjoy, along with much else on her site that is seasonal, homely, and welcoming to all those who enjoy a warm, welcome home after an autumn – or winter – walk.
That link will take you to the shared ‘This is Your Kingdom’ site Helen regularly writes for. Her own site is The House at Nab End . As winter sets in, it’s the best of places to visit and explore if you want virtual reminders of the pleasures of other seasons while hunkering down by the fireside with your internet connection and a warming drink.
